Visual user-generated content verification in journalism: an overview
In their latest publication, MediaFutures researchers present a detailed analysis of journalistic process for visual content verification and provide an overview of available tools employed by the media industry in assessing the veracity of user-generated content.

The first prototype is a deep learning-based military vehicle classification web prototype which can predict the make/model of a military vehicle present in an image. The second prototype is a language detection, transcription and translation web service based on OpenAI’s Whisper model.

In a recently published article in the Journal of Communication, researcher Erik Knudsen presents a new framework that aims to enable researchers to model and study the conditional effects of news recommender systems on selective exposure.
New study highlights harmful and toxic content in selected Scandinavian language models
A new study co-authored by MediaFutures’ researcher Samia Touileb, shows that some of the popular Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish language models generate harmful and gender-biased stereotypes. The finding goes against the general expectations related to gender equality in Scandinavian countries.
