Christopher Senf
Innovation Researcher
University of Bergen
Dr. Christopher (‘Chris’) Senf serves as the Innovation Coordinator at SFI MediaFutures, where he leads the development and implementation of the Centre’s ‘Dynamic & User-centered Model of Innovation.’ His role bridges the gap between academic researchers and industry partners, driving the planning and execution of the Centre’s collaborations.
In addition to his role at MediaFutures, Chris frequently teaches social and political philosophy, as well as applied ethics, as an Assistant Professor at the University of Bergen. A political philosopher by training, Chris completed his PhD in 2023, supervised by Anat Biletzki (Quinnipiac), Jesse Tomalty (Bergen), and Chris F. Zurn (Boston). He was a Fulbright Visiting Fellow at the University of Massachusetts Boston in Fall 2021.
Chris' own research centers on the study, critique, and transformation of the concepts used to assess and respond to social movements, drawing upon the normative and conceptual tools provided by recognition-struggle theory. He also examines the ethics and politics of AI, with particular attention to future conflicts and protests. In this context, he co-leads the ‘Boston-Bergen Forum on Digital Futures’, an international research network that includes SFI MediaFutures, the Philosophy Department at UiB, the Applied Ethics Center at UMass Boston, and the MIT Program on Human Rights and Technology.
