In Meet the Team series we introduce our audience to the brilliant people working at MediaFutures. Get to know us better by discovering who we are and what we do.
This week we are interviewing Kata Urban, MediaFutures’ Research Assistant.
Can you give an introduction of yourself and your background?
I was born and raised in Hungary, moved to Norway in 2017, and I have never looked back. I hold two bachelor’s degrees – in Liberal Arts and in Political Science from the ELTE University in my home country. Seeking out new knowledge, I have applied for a master program at NTNU and subsequently obtained a master’s degree from there in Globalization and Sustainable Development in 2019. My master thesis concerned circular economy and social value creation.
Over the course of years, I have gained a broad experience within project management, politics, administration, communication and research. I speak 6 languages and I am always in search for new challenges.
Tell us about your role in MediaFutures
I am a research assistant at MediaFutures and I contribute with my work to understanding how visual features influence our trust in news media and how we can develop a more trustworthy platform for both users and for news producers. I found the research itself and the job very interesting, and important, and I hope that this will lead to something bigger in my career.
Aside from the research assistant tasks, I am also lucky to be conducting assignments related to administration and communication at the Centre.
Things about MediaFutures I appreciate the most….?
I appreciate how no two days are alike at MediaFutures. I enjoy how dynamic the work environment is, and that I get the opportunity to differentiate my workdays by moving from research-related tasks to communication, and administrative assignments. Also, having office in such modern place as Media City Bergen is very nice.
