MediaFutures Centre Director Christoph Trattner was interviewed for an article by “Dagbladet” published 08-06/21.

The theme of the article is recommender systems. In particular, the algorithms used by Netflix to determine which movies their users are likely to enjoy. These algorithms have caused confusion among Netflix users, as today’s most popular TV shows and movies are not being recommended to them.

As a researcher with over 100 scientific articles published in top venues about his work within the fields of “Behavioral Data Analytics” and “Recommender System” Professor Christoph Trattner has been interviewed to comment on these algorithms.

“The algorithms search for people who are interested in the same thing as you. They then find movies that are popular within this group, but that you have not seen before, says Trattner to Dagbladet.”
