On January 21st, MediaFutures hosted a seminar by Adhera Health titled AI as Family Media for Health and Wellbeing: Personalization, Context, and Biopsychosocial Perspectives. The seminar, led by Luis Fernández-Luque, Chief Scientific Officer at Adhera Health, explored how AI can support families managing pediatric chronic conditions by providing personalized, context-aware health communication.
Fernández-Luque discussed how AI-powered platforms can enhance treatment adherence, wellbeing, and health outcomes through evidence-based interventions. The speaker emphasized the importance of understanding health from a biopsychosocial perspective, integrating biological, psychological, and social dimensions. He also highlighted the challenges of addressing stigma, autonomy, and sensitive content in health communication.
Examples from ongoing research in the USA, Spain, and at the University of Bergen showcased how AI can complement human care and support families in ethical and emotionally informed ways.
The seminar was highly engaging, with the audience actively participating by asking insightful questions. After the formal session, attendees continued their conversations in a more relaxed atmosphere, exchanging thoughts and reflections over a healthy lunch, which contributed to the overall positive and collaborative mood of the event.
